This delightful couple joined me for a shower in Fiji...

I have had many entertaining encounters with frogs. When I left Jellewang Jungle to catch a flight from Khota Bharu to Kuala Lumpar I quickly grab my hiking boots chucked them in a carrier bag and put them in the over head compartment on the plane.

On arrival in KL I opened the compartment only to notice my bag was moving about? - at first I thought it may have been a small snake from the Jungle that had sort comfort in one of my boots. I was a bit nervous as I had an ongoing flight to Sydney, Australia. God knows what customs would say! I decided to go straight to the disabled toliets to take a private peek. To my surprise and relief a great big smiley frog stared out from my boot. Golly, how do I explain this.

I left the toilet went through to arrivals only to be harressed by the local taxi drivers. I didn't need a taxi as I was off to Sydney, however, I knew someone that did. When I asked the poor taxi driver if he could take my frog to the pond outside the airport he thought I was joking. I smiled sweetly showed him my boot and gave him a little wink, then off he went to the middle of the field with my boot and my new best friend from Jellewang! - what a beautiful memory.

WAZA World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and CBSG Conservation Breeding Specialist Group are asking Botanical Gardens and Zoos around the world to help with an ex situ program called Amphibian Ark that may bring some hope to preserving our smiley friends. I also believe that the fashion world can play apart in raising awareness to the public through design.

Frogs play a vital role in the eco-system, making up a large basis of the food chain, which other creatures depend on. They also connect aquatic life to land life. Living on insects they help keep control of insect population.

Frogs and Bio Medication
Certain frogs species produce chemicals that are also used for pain relief medication and one species is linked to a chemical that disables the AIDS virus. Frogs therefore have an important role in bio medication.

How the fungus works:
The fungus is picked up on the frogs sticky foot pads they same way they spread pollen. It works like a parasite that makes it difficult for the frogs to use their pores, quickly causing them to die of dehydration.
